Choosing the Right Grout & Caulk for Your Tile Project
Three decisions drive your grout selection: joint width, location, and how much maintenance you want to deal with after install.
Grout color and width should be chosen alongside your tile. See our current tile selection if you're still finalizing the surface for your project.
Joint width determines sanded vs. non-sanded. Polyblend Plus Non-Sanded Grout is for joints 1/8" or smaller, typical for polished stone, glass tile, and tight joints where sand grit would scratch the tile finish. Polyblend Plus Sanded Grout is for joints wider than 1/8" - most ceramic and porcelain floor tile installs. Using sanded grout in tight joints can scratch glossy tile; using unsanded grout in wide joints causes shrinkage cracks.
Location determines whether you need a high-performance grout. High-performance grouts are a smart choice for homeowners who want lower maintenance, better stain resistance, and longer-lasting performance in busy kitchens, bathrooms, and high-traffic areas. CEG Lite Commercial Epoxy Grout is fully waterproof and stain-proof, the right call for commercial kitchens, restaurant floors, hospital corridors, and any installation where chemical resistance matters. Prism Ultimate Performance Grout is a single-component cement-based grout with built-in stain and efflorescence resistance. A strong middle-ground choice for residential bathrooms, kitchens, and entryways without the cost or working-time challenges of full epoxy.
Caulk fills the joints where grout shouldn't go. Wherever tile meets a different surface (tub, vanity, countertop) or wherever you have an inside corner that's going to flex (wall-to-floor, wall-to-wall), use color-matched caulk instead of grout. Polyblend Sanded Caulking matches the Polyblend grout color line, same texture, same color, but flexible enough to handle the joint movement that would crack a grout line within a year.
